Well, today I said my last verse as part of the Navigators Topical Memory System. My Bible study girls and I decided that every 5 weeks we would not do our Bible study but instead recite each and every verse that we have memorized since we started studying together. So for me (and another lady) it will be the 50 or more verses from this system.
We were talking today about memorizing verses and one of my friends said, “Its not like I am going to memorize the whole Bible.” And I said, “Why not? What else are you going to do with your life?” I didn’t mean you would do nothing but memorize, but what I was trying to say was that if we kept up on our memorizing just think how many books of the Bible we will know by the time we are 50. Why shouldn’t we set that goal. Wouldn’t that be amazing? To know God’s Word by heart. Of course just reciting these verses and not applying them or “hiding them in your heart” will not do you any good. A lot of people can memorize things. This is God’s Word and to know it and be able to recall and to be able to pray it and to be able to share it with others – it is truly amazing.
Today I cannot help but think of all the blessings we have. We have so much here in America. We have a plethora of choices of food and housing and of clothes and so many other things. We deserve none of it. We deserve nothing. And even so,
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Cor. 5:21
We have all been given an incredible gift, and all we have to do is accept it.
We must admit that we are sinners:
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23
On this Good Friday, think of the Savior who knew no sin, but became sin for us. Admit that you are a sinner. Confess your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
“For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” John 1:12
