I had pretty much had it with Oprah after watching “The Church of Oprah“. So, I just stopped watching her. I banned her from my television. Yesterday, I just reaffirmed this. I was flipping through the channels and Micheal Moore was on Oprah regarding his documentary “Sicko” which I will not even put a link to because it is a waste of your time. Of course it was in regards to socialized medicine. I know we have a health insurance system that isn’t the greatest, but come on people. We live in a free country. We are not socialist (not yet anyway). The government cannot solve all of our problems.

Thomas Jefferson said that, “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”

Exactly, hello . . . anyone, anyone? It just makes me crazy that we think the government can do everything for us. I am not saying that the government is evil or bad, but what about personal responsibility? Socialized medicine is not the answer. There are many stories of people waiting months and months for routine medical care in a socialized country. Taxes are at 50 percent or more in some countries to provide this care. What is the incentive to provide better care when the government pays you anyway?

What I would like to know is if it you want to live in a country with socialized medicine, why do you not move there? I will help pack boxes and even chip in for the moving truck. I can even print out the words to “Oh, Canada” to help you start to memorize your new national anthem – was that too sarcastic? Sorry, my point is exactly what Thomas Jefferson said. Here it is again:

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.” -Thomas Jefferson
